About WEHRLE Umwelt GmbH
Since 1982, WEHRLE Umwelt GmbH, a subsidiary of 1860-founded WEHRLE WERK AG in Emmendingen/Germany, has specialised in the treatment of complex wastewaters.
Treated effluents are landfill leachate up to industrial waste waters, for instance from food & beverage, chemical, pharmaceutical, petrochemical and, finally, manure and digestate. The focus is not only the cleaning of wastewater, but also product re-use (e.g. for petrochemical industry), water recycling and heat recovery (e.g. for laundries) or energy generation (e.g. animal rendering, slaughterhouse). For this, WEHRLE delivers part or turn-key plant along with supporting service like lab testing, piloting, engineering, commissioning and plant optimizing even of plants of third-party suppliers.
Customers are not only local counties and companies, but also international customers like Unilever, Mondelez, Novartis etc. Up to now, the company has built 300 reference plants worldwide.
WEHRLE is pioneer for several innovative processes, for instance, the first industrial-size membrane bioreactor (MBR), the first Nanofiltration (NF), the first Low-Energy MBR. The plants differ from most other industrial WWTPs by exceptionally high reliability, flexibility, very simple operation and maintenance and the most compact design possible with MBRs using external membranes − all important criteria for industrial production plants in various climate regions and changing production waste water.
Areas of expertise:
- membrane bioreactors
- landfill leachate treatment
- industrial wastewater treatment.
MBR technology & applications
Proprietary MBR products and systems:
- MBR
- NF
- RO
Market applications:
- Industrial small-scale, Industrial large-scale, Municipal small-scale, Municipal large-scale
- Shipboard applications, Off-grid solutions, Bespoke solutions, Landfill leachate
