IPC®80 Module
About Fish meal factory WWTP
- Technology: 2 bar Back Pulsable PVDF Flat sheet from Blue Foot Membranes
- Number of IPC® membrane modules: 1 IPC® 80 Module
- Application: fish meal wastewater treatment
- Start up: December 2019
Project Background:
In order to evaluate the effectiveness of the IPC® MBR membrane modules, a pilot plant was built and started up in the Kojima Sustainable Fisheries fish meal factory by Rematec. This factory is evaluating MBR technology for their challenging wastewater because of the need to reuse water and comply with the stringent discharge limits in the Osaka Prefecture. This was achieved by a Membrane Bioreactor pilot using one single IPC® membrane module.
In this product evaluation study, MLSS concentrations ranging from 8-16.000 mg/L MLSS were tested together with the backwash protocols. Net fluxes of 30-40 L/m2.h were reached and this is considered to be about 1.5 to 2 times above average net fluxes.
It was observed that the cake layer was cleared sufficiently by the backwashing every time at the end of the cycle, even at the high MLSS concentrations.
