Company overview

  • Offices in:
    Enschede, the Netherlands
  • Company size:
    11-500 employees
About the company:

Advanced membranes are our business. We help equipment manufacturers, engineering and construction contractors to exceed expectations with membranes that make the difference, even in the most challenging tasks and conditions.

Areas of expertise:
  • Industrial WWTP
  • Leachate MBR
  • Produced water
Proprietary membrane products and systems:
  • Tubular cross-flow 8 mm ID
  • Tubular airlift 5 mm or 3 mm ID
  • Helix flux enhancement (5 mm or 8 mm)
Technology special features:

Dedicated process driving the specific requirements on product and result.

Helix flux enhancement:

With the Helix flux enhancement, X-Flow addresses a bottleneck in high-solids ultrafiltration (UF) by preventing the buildup of foulants. Helix technology enhances flux, increases flow, and saves energy. By introducing turbulence right at the membrane wall, Helix technology provides continuous mixing and efficient removal of the cake layer that would otherwise reduce the membrane’s hydraulic permeability. The resulting higher permeate flow means higher productivity and lower costs. Due to the effective membrane cleaning at low crossflow velocities, Helix technology significantly reduces the energy footprint compared to standard tubular membrane solutions.

Helix technology sustains and boosts the productivity of membrane systems with helically winding ridges that provide turbulence and enhanced feed water mixing. The prevention of cake formation allows for higher permeate flows at lower crossflow velocities.

This will result in:
• Higher productivity: up to 100%
• Lower energy consumption: down by 50% (depending on feed water quality).

Technology description:

Tubular membranes as mentioned above are enforced tubes having an inside out filtration mode with the separating skin at the inside of the membranes. The new generation membranes have smart turbulence enhancing properties, driving the performance beyond the classical smooth membrane.

Technology special features:

Dedicated process driving the specific requirements on product and result.
