A3 Water Solutions GmbH wins German Foreign Office tender in Iraqi Kurdistan
EnviTec Biogas AG subsidiary A3 Water Solutions GmbH, based in Gelsenkirchen/Saerbeck, has won a contract to supply two new treatment containers to the German Foreign Office in Erbil, Iraq. Erbil is the capital and seat of government for the autonomous Kurdistan Region in northern Iraq.
Sales Director Steffen Richter said, 'The German Foreign Office put the procurement of two new treatment containers out to tender and we managed to secure the contract with our tailor-made solutions for sewage treatment.' A3's MBR-based treatment technology means that water can be re-used after treatment, putting an end to the regular trips for off-site disposal of wastewater.
After construction at the company’s Saerbeck site, the eight-tonne sewage treatment containers were shipped by truck to Erbil − a journey of about two weeks. 'After their arrival, our containers were installed and connected up by one of our employees and a partner company specialising in sewage treatment as well as structural and civil engineering,' Richter said. Supplementing the containers, each treatment plant also has three underground tanks consisting of a feed tank, a sludge collection tank and a reservoir tank for treated water. Once treated, the wastewater is now used for watering gardens and washing vehicles.
A3 Water Solutions GmbH has specialised in the treatment of municipal and industrial wastewater in Germany and abroad for over 15 years. The company’s customers include the German armed forces, cruise shipping operators, and the food, textile and chemical industries, and the company has worked in locations such as Afghanistan, Austria, Belgium, China, Germany, Mali, Netherlands, Siberia, Turkey and the USA.
