KUBOTA wins a Phase II order for the Middle East's largest membrane bioreactor in Muscat, Oman

Posted on

KUBOTA Membrane Europe Ltd has been awarded an order for its submerged membrane units for Phase II of the Al Ansab STP from Doosan Heavy Industries Co., Ltd, Korea. Al Ansab STP is located in Muscat City, Oman and the order is for the capacity of 125,000 m³/d, to be completed by August 2017.

Oman has no rivers but relies on ground water for its water resources. Securing water resources for irrigation and agriculture is a priority.

Because Muscat City is a rapidly developing residential and commercial area, the existing STP needs to expand capacity in Phase II. KUBOTA submerged membrane units have been employed at the existing STP for Phase I, and have been stable since starting operation in 2010.

KUBOTA is planning to develop the large-scale MBR market in the Middle East using Al Ansab and Canton Water Reclamation Facility (based in Ohio, USA (160,000m³/d) awarded in 2013) as references.
